As Kenya prepares to host the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the federation is set to elevate its infrastructure and enhance the overall football ecosystem.

Strategic Partnership with Morocco

On March 9, FKF President Hussein Mohammed announced a pivotal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with the President of the Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa. Mohammed stated, “The offer of support from the Kingdom of is a significant step in realizing our aspirations to reclaim our football glory days.”

Upgrading Football Infrastructure

Kenya’s efforts to upgrade football facilities are already underway, with renovation projects at Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadiums progressing to meet international standards. Additionally, the construction of Talanta Stadium—a dedicated soccer venue slated to host AFCON 2027 matches—underscores the country’s commitment to becoming a prominent player in African football.

The FKF- partnership is expected to deliver crucial technical expertise and infrastructural support, propelling these developments forward. Football in Kenya is on the threshold of a renaissance, and the federation aims to utilize this momentum to nurture talent and organize world-class events.

As Kenya gears up for the upcoming football calendar filled with exciting matchups and events, the FKF’s proactive steps signal a commitment to building a sustainable football environment. Stakeholders are encouraged to engage with these initiatives, ensuring that Kenyan football not only competes but excels on the continental stage.
