FKF Honours Former Footballers and Their Families with Free Passes to CHAN Games

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has taken a commendable step by granting former footballers and their families free access to all African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 matches of their choice. This initiative, spearheaded by FKF President Hussein Mohammed, aims to honor the legends who have significantly contributed to the sport in Kenya.

Recognition with Seamless Access

During a recent breakfast meeting at the Stadion Hotel, Hussein emphasized that the football legends will receive special accreditation, ensuring hassle-free entry to match venues along with preferential seating arrangements. “All our games will provide preferential seating… You will get accreditation to attend games with your families,” he stated, highlighting the importance of recognition for these former players.

A Commitment to Welfare and Future Growth

Hussein expressed that this gesture is just one element of a broader strategy to support the welfare of former players. “The least we can do for the legends is to ensure they are comfortable and respected,” he noted. He outlined plans in his leadership manifesto to focus on the past, present, and future of Kenyan football, which includes developing welfare programs such as a pension scheme for retired players.

By operationalizing the Hall of Fame and developing robust programs, the FKF aims to ensure that the contributions of these legends are preserved and respected. “We want to create a legacy for future generations,” Hussein added.

Next Steps for Supporting Football’s Legacy

As part of the broader initiative to uplift retired footballers, FKF plans to introduce a SACCO aimed at addressing the financial needs of former players. This strategy not only acknowledges their past contributions but also aims to integrate them into the evolving football ecosystem in Kenya.

In conclusion, FKF’s initiative serves as a reminder of the value former athletes bring to the sport. As the federation moves forward, it invites fans and stakeholders to support the recognition and welfare of these football legends.
