Football Fans Association Calls for Ticketing Transparency – The Standard Health

Football fans in Kenya are demanding ticketing transparency ahead of Sunday’s crucial match against Zambia, citing concerns over a recent ticketing controversy. The Kenya Fans Association (KFA), led by chairman Shem Okattah, is seeking clarifications from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) regarding alleged sold-out tickets for the CHAN 2024 matches before their official release.

Urgent Call for Accountability

Okattah emphasized the necessity for a transparent ticketing process, stating, “Fans are the lifeblood of the game. They deserve fair access to tickets and clear communication on availability.” This demand follows strict directives issued by CAF for matches at Kasarani Stadium, aimed at enhancing security protocols after past infractions risked the safety of spectators and staff.

The CAF statement mandated a limit of 60% stadium capacity, affecting 27,000 tickets, with entry restricted to electronic ticket holders only. Okattah noted serious operational failures have led to dangerous congestion and security breaches, urging the FKF to implement crowd management strategies effectively.

Transforming Matchday Experience

To alleviate the issues plaguing match day, KFA is in discussions with the Nairobi County Government to establish official fan zones, aiming to deter non-ticket holders from crowding the vicinity of Kasarani Stadium. Okattah shared plans for deploying trained volunteers to assist with ticket verification and enhance the overall spectator experience.

Additionally, he expressed appreciation towards President William Ruto’s motivation incentives for the Harambee Stars team, stating, “This support will be crucial for our players as they aim for victory.”

Next Steps

As the countdown to the match against Zambia begins, football fans and stakeholders are encouraged to engage actively and advocate for expanded transparency in ticketing practices. The Kenya Fans Association is committed to improving the match atmosphere and ensuring a safer, enjoyable experience for all attendees. Let’s unite to reclaim the spirit of the game and support our national team!

This article aims to improve search engine visibility while engaging readers with a clear call-to-action for transparency in football ticketing.
