The House of Representatives Committee on Sports has proudly congratulated Nigeria’s national women’s football team, the Super Falcons, following their dramatic 3-2 victory over Morocco in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). This win not only marks Nigeria’s record-extending 10th WAFCON title but also reinforces the team’s dominance in African women’s football.

In an electrifying final played in Rabat, the Super Falcons staged a remarkable comeback from a two-goal deficit, showcasing their resilience and attacking spirit. Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Honourable Kabiru Amadu, praised the team for their skill and determination, stating, “Their victory is a testament to hard work and unwavering dedication to representing our great nation.”

Amadu, who represents the Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency, emphasized that this achievement transcends sports. He believes it symbolizes the strength and perseverance of Nigerian women, celebrating their role as a beacon of hope for the nation.

Additionally, Amadu addressed the critical issue of player compensation, assuring fans that the committee is collaborating with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to ensure timely disbursement of player bonuses. “We are working to guarantee that the players receive their 30 percent share from the Confederation of African Football’s $1 million prize money without delay,” he affirmed.
