Celebrating a Milestone in Women’s Football

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has congratulated Nigeria’s senior women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, on their historic 10th WAFCON title. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau praised the team’s thrilling 3–2 victory over the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco in the final match held at the Rabat Olympic Stadium on July 26, 2025.

A Testament to Resilience

Describing the win as a “moment of immense pride and celebration,” Senator Barau noted that this triumph is a testament to the players’ resilience and unwavering national spirit. “I congratulate the Super Falcons and indeed all Nigerians on our team’s historic achievement. This victory is not only a milestone in African women’s football but also a powerful reminder of what Nigerian athletes can achieve through dedication and unity,” he stated.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Senator Barau, a committed supporter of football in Nigeria, emphasized that the Super Falcons have reaffirmed Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football. “The team’s discipline and passion throughout the tournament are truly commendable. Their performance will inspire a new generation of Nigerian girls to dream big and pursue greatness,” he added.

Acknowledging the Team’s Supporters

He also extended special commendations to the coaching crew, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and all stakeholders involved in the team’s remarkable success. “Kudos to the coaching staff, the NFF, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to bring this glory to our nation. The Super Falcons have made us proud,” he remarked.
