Super Falcons: NAWIS Hails Mission X Heroines, Tasks NFF to Invest More in Women’s Football

The National Association for Women In Sports (NAWIS) has joined well-meaning Nigerians in congratulating the Super Falcons on achieving a historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco, fulfilling their ambition dubbed “Mission X.” The NAWIS President, Professor Adefunke Mariam Suleiman, praised the team for their resilience and skill, highlighting the thrilling comeback from a two-goal deficit.

Celebrating Historic Achievement

In a statement, NAWIS spokesperson Comrade Oluwafunmmike Kanjuni relayed the excitement within the organization. “This hard-fought victory reflects the spirit of true champions,” Professor Suleiman stated, indicating that the Super Falcons are unmatched in Africa and rank among the best globally. She expressed special admiration for their determination and teamwork throughout the tournament.

Call for Greater Investment

While applauding the team’s success, NAWIS urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to enhance their investment in women’s football. This includes focused efforts at the grassroots level and support for the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL). Professor Suleiman emphasized the importance of nurturing new talent and ensuring a steady pipeline of players to sustain Nigeria’s dominance.

“This is not just a moment for celebration, but an opportunity to cultivate the next generation of stars,” she asserted, referencing the need for proper exposure and resources.

Acknowledgment and Future Aspirations

NAWIS also recognized the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the NFF for the timely release of funds for the players and coaching staff. The financial support has been crucial in allowing Nigeria’s sportswomen, including the senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, to perform at their best.

As the Super Falcons look ahead to their upcoming match against Mozambique in Côte d’Ivoire, the atmosphere is one of optimism and determination. The team’s recent victory has instilled a sense of pride across the nation, making it clear that the future of women’s football in Nigeria holds immense potential.

In conclusion, the tale of the Super Falcons is more than just triumph; it embodies aspirations that deserve continuous support from all stakeholders. Fans are encouraged to share their sentiments and cheer on our heroines as they aim for further global excellence!
