A New Era for Grassroots Football

The AfriSportPro Youth League, a significant initiative in Nigeria’s football landscape, aims to bring together over 1,000 young athletes. Designed to harness grassroots football for national unity and youth empowerment, the league will kick off across states including Osun, FCT, Kaduna, Akwa Ibom, Plateau, and Imo.

Leadership Insights

Chukwuebuka Ugwu, Chairman and CEO of AfriSportPro, shared insights during a press briefing in Abuja, highlighting the league’s role as a platform not just for sports but also for social change. “This league is a gateway to international football opportunities,” he stated, emphasizing its focus on data-driven analytics through a partnership with Wyscout.

A Data-Driven Approach

Every match will be recorded and analyzed, making player data accessible to scouts and clubs globally. “Our players aren’t just playing; they’re being seen, measured, and tracked,” Ugwu noted, ensuring that talent is matched with opportunity.

Community Engagement and Social Responsibility

The league is not just about football. In collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), it aims to promote anti-corruption messages and foster youth education. Additionally, partnerships with the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy aim to celebrate Nigeria’s culture through football.
