A high-profile delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is in Kenya, conducting crucial evaluations of stadiums and training facilities for the upcoming 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN). Set to kick off on August 2, this inspection marks a critical step in assessing Kenya’s readiness to co-host the tournament alongside Uganda and Tanzania.

Infrastructure Upgrades in Progress

Kenya is ramping up its preparation for CHAN 2025, with significant renovations at key venues like the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, and Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi. These upgrades, which include structural repairs and pitch enhancements, are necessary for meeting CAF’s international standards. Just as Uganda has undergone evaluations, so too will Kenya’s training grounds across the nation receive important improvements to ensure optimal conditions for player welfare.

Critical Assessment of Facilities

The CAF delegation, led by Third Vice President Pierre Alain Mounguengui, is meticulously reviewing every aspect of the facilities. From pitch quality to safety protocols, their assessment will determine if Kenya can successfully co-host its share of CHAN matches. With the tournament originally scheduled for February and postponed to August, the focus is squarely on compliance and readiness.

As anticipation builds, the stakes are high; Kenya will face a tough challenge in Group A, competing against established teams like Morocco and the Democratic Republic of Congo. To leverage the home advantage and foster local talent, the national squad must be at its best.

Next Steps: As preparations continue, every effort should be made to engage fans and media in the lead-up to the tournament. It’s time for Kenya to make its mark on the international football stage.
