FKF Honours Former Footballers and Their Families with Free Passes to CHAN Games

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is set to honor former footballers and their families by granting them free access to all 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) matches of their choice. This initiative aims to acknowledge the significant contributions of legends to Kenyan football and ensure their well-deserved recognition in the sport.

Supporting Football Legends

During a special breakfast meeting at the Stadion Hotel, FKF President Hussein Mohammed laid out the details of this gesture. Each football legend will receive accreditation for seamless entry into match venues, alongside preferential seating arrangements. “All our games will offer preferential seating… so you can attend the football games without any hassle,” he affirmed.

This commitment highlights the FKF’s dedication to recognizing the welfare of former players as a core part of its leadership strategy. “The least we can do for the legends who have given so much is to ensure they are comfortable and respected,” Mohammed added.

Future Initiatives for Player Welfare

In addition to the free passes, the FKF plans to launch welfare programs, including a pension scheme and a Savings and Credit Cooperative (SACCO) for retired footballers. Mohammed emphasized the need to develop robust programs to improve the welfare of former players, pointing out that many remain active in the sport as coaches or trainers.

“At the end of this year, we will operationalize the Hall of Fame… documenting the history of all footballers,” he noted. This initiative not only honors the past but also sets the stage for a more supportive environment for future athletes.
