Remembering Sammy Obingo’s Contributions

Sammy Joel Obingo, aged 68, tragically passed away on April 8 following a motorcycle accident near his home, shortly after attending a significant community event at Mumias Township Primary School. Family spokesperson Abnery Aswani mentioned that Obingo was in good spirits before the ceremony and had even overcome a recent health issue involving intestinal obstruction.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) recognized Obingo for his substantial contributions during his tenure when the organization was known as Kenya Football Federation (KFF). They extended heartfelt condolences, highlighting how he shaped the future of Kenyan football through dedicated service.

Community and Football Leaders Unite in Mourning

Obingo’s contributions extended beyond the football field; local community members describe him as a “pillar of leadership,” advocating for both football and community development. In the days leading up to his burial, his body lay at St. Mary’s Hospital Mortuary, where mourners, including friends, family, and sports stakeholders, paid their respects.

The burial is expected to be a gathering of hundreds, including FKF officials, local leaders, and passionate fans, all poised to celebrate Obingo’s life and accomplishments.

In wrapping up a heartfelt tribute to his contributions, FKF remarked, “As we reflect on his invaluable service to Kenyan football, our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time.”

Conclusion

As the football fraternity comes together to bid farewell to Samuel Obingo, it is a poignant reminder of the critical need for road safety and the lasting impact individuals can have on their communities. We encourage everyone to pay homage by sharing a memory or a tribute to a leader who left an indelible mark on Kenyan football.
