FKF Honours Former Footballers and Their Families with Free Passes to CHAN Games

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has announced a significant initiative to honour the contributions of former footballers. The federation will provide these legends and their families with free access to all matches of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), ensuring they can enjoy the games without hassle.

A Meaningful Tribute to Legends

At a special breakfast meeting held at the Stadion Hotel, Hussein affirmed that former players will receive accreditation for seamless entry into match venues, complete with preferential seating. “All our games, you will get preferential seating… You will get accreditation so you can attend the football games without any hassle,” he stated, emphasizing the respect these legends deserve.

This initiative serves as a small yet impactful recognition of the immense contributions these athletes have made to Kenyan football. “The least we can do for the legends who have given so much to Kenyan football is to ensure they are comfortable and respected,” Hussein added.

Future Vision for Former Players

Moreover, Hussein also discussed plans to establish welfare programs like a pension scheme or SACCO for retired players. “We will come up with programmes to ensure that retired footballers will have some kind of a pension or a SACCO to take care of their needs in retirement,” he explained. The FKF’s proposed Hall of Fame will also document the rich history of Kenya’s football, ensuring that former players will always be remembered.

Conclusion: Empowering the Football Community

Hussein’s commitment to honouring former footballers represents a transformative step for Kenya’s football community. This initiative not only acknowledges past contributions but also lays the groundwork for future support. As the federation moves forward, active engagement with former players will be crucial to building a robust and supportive football ecosystem.
