FKF Honours Former Footballers and Their Families with Free Passes to CHAN Games

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has announced a significant gesture to honour former footballers by granting them and their families free access to all matches of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024. This initiative underscores FKF’s commitment to recognizing the contributions of legends who have shaped Kenyan football history.

Recognition for Contributions

During a special breakfast event held at Stadion Hotel, Hussein unveiled plans to provide accreditation for easier entry into match venues, along with preferential seating arrangements. “All our games will ensure you get preferential seating… and you can attend without any hassle. This recognition is long overdue,” he stated. By granting these passes, FKF aims to ensure former players are treated with the respect they deserve, enhancing their match-day experience.

Welfare Programs in Development

Hussein emphasized that this initiative aligns with his leadership manifesto, focusing on the welfare of past footballers. “Our manifesto prioritizes the past, present, and future of football. We need to address the needs of retired players effectively,” he noted. Plans include operationalizing a Hall of Fame to document football history and to offer welfare programs such as pensions for retired stars.

The FKF president also highlighted future approaches, stating, “We will implement programs ensuring retired footballers have a pension scheme or SACCO system to aid them post-career.” Many who have left the pitch are still actively involved in football, showcasing a diverse ecosystem that FKF aims to foster.

In conclusion, the FKF’s initiative not only honors the legends of Kenyan football but also sets the stage for sustainable support for former players. This commitment paves the way for more inclusive and responsible governance in the sport. As this initiative unfolds, fans and families are encouraged to support their footballing heroes at the upcoming CHAN games.
