All-Kenyan Derby Highlights the Tournament

An electrifying matchup on January 7, 2025, at 3 PM features the Kenya Academy of Sports competing against the Kenya Elite Junior Academy. Both teams, placed in Group A, aim to showcase their skills after the withdrawal of Bahir Dar Kenema from Ethiopia opened the door for the Kenyan academies.

This derby is not only a thrilling confrontation but also a crucial opportunity for the players to shine on an international stage, gaining valuable experience ahead of the qualifiers.

Pioneering Coaches Lead the Charge

The Kenya Academy of Sports, under the leadership of Jacqueline Juma, a renowned CAF A-accredited coach, is poised to leverage her extensive expertise. Juma’s historical achievements, including coaching an FKF Premier League team, will be pivotal in building a competitive squad.

In contrast, Mildred Cheche, the first Kenyan coach to guide a team to a FIFA World Cup, heads the Kenya Elite Junior Academy. With her CAF B certification and a track record of success, including qualifying for the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, Cheche’s strategic vision will be instrumental in her team’s performance.
