Kenya Shines in Group A

Kenya, the tournament debutants, topped Group A with an impressive total of 10 points, positioning themselves as a formidable force. Their decisive victory against Zambia at Kasarani Stadium, marked by a crucial 75th-minute strike from Ryan Ogam, highlighted their disciplined defensive tactics and clinical finishing. This powerful performance has set the stage for their quarter-final match against Madagascar on Friday evening, promising an electric atmosphere in Nairobi.

Tanzania’s Dominance in Group B

Equally strong, Tanzania led Group B with an impressive tally of 10 points as well. The Taifa Stars showcased their attacking flair and solid organization, winning three out of four matches. Despite a minor setback in their last match against the Central African Republic, they enter the knockout stage full of confidence. Fans are gearing up for their quarter-final clash with Morocco in Dar es Salaam, where high expectations for local support will undoubtedly boost their performance.

Uganda’s Historic Breakthrough

Uganda’s progression to the quarter-finals marks a significant milestone as they finally broke their previous jinx of failing to advance beyond the group stage in six prior attempts. A thrilling 3-3 draw against South Africa in their last group game was marked by a dramatic stoppage-time penalty from Rogers Torach. This historic achievement solidifies their place in the knockout rounds, and they will face the runners-up from Group D on Saturday night in Kampala.

Uniting for a Historic Occasion

This year’s CHAN is unique not only for being co-hosted by three nations, but also for the passionate crowds that have driven their success. Each host nation will play in familiar territory during the quarter-finals, guaranteeing vibrant, festival-like atmospheres in all three capital cities. This collaborative hosting model has amplified East Africa’s touristic potential while celebrating the spirit of togetherness—pamoja.
