Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, Real Madrid’s manager, has settled his final position on the future of Moroccan international Ibrahim Diaz, confirming his desire to keep the player’s services until the end of the current 2026-2027 season and rejecting any idea of letting him go during the upcoming winter transfer window.
A source close to the player’s entourage revealed in an exclusive statement to “Erem News” that the Portuguese coach does not intend to open the door for Diaz’s departure in January, preferring to keep him within the squad and benefit from his technical abilities during the second half of the season. The source confirmed that the idea of releasing the player mid-season is not part of Mourinho’s current plans, as he refuses to cause any disruption to the attacking line’s personnel.
This decision comes at a time when Diaz has seen a noticeable decline in playing minutes in recent weeks, amid fierce competition within the Royal team from names such as Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Arda Guler, Yan Diomande and Endrick. The player has also suffered from some muscle pain, but he remained available to Mourinho and played for the Moroccan national team during the international break.
Mourinho had recently praised Diaz’s level after Real Madrid’s 4-1 win over Leipzig in the Champions League, saying that he “does not start matches, but he likes him a lot every time he participates,” pointing to the principle of merit within the team. Diaz successfully provided an assist for Diomande, who scored the fourth goal in that match.
With this decision, Mourinho puts an end to the speculation surrounding the Moroccan star’s future, which linked him with a possible loan or departure in search of more playing minutes, especially with interest from clubs such as Juventus, Milan and Al-Ittihad. Diaz now remains an essential part of the Portuguese coach’s plans, awaiting improved opportunities to participate in upcoming matches.
