How Raphinha and Yamal outpace Madrid’s Mbappé and Bellingham
The gulf between Barcelona’s leading attacking partnership and their rivals is stark. Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham have managed 10 goals and five assists across La Liga, leaving them 16 contributions behind. Mbappé individually has seven league goals with two assists, while Bellingham contributes three goals and three assists—a combined total 11 short of what Raphinha and Yamal have already delivered.
The disparity widens when other elite pairings enter the comparison. Rayo Vallecano’s Sergio Camello and Alvaro Garcia occupy third place with nine goals and three assists. Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki manage eight goals and two assists. Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise and Harry Kane have combined for seven goals and two assists. None come close to Barcelona’s output.
Involvement in 75 per cent of Barcelona’s European goals
Across La Liga and Champions League competition, Raphinha and Yamal have posted 22 goals and nine assists. More significantly, they have been directly involved in 27 of Barcelona’s 36 goals across both competitions—accounting for 24 of the club’s 31 La Liga strikes and four of five Champions League finishes. That involvement rate demonstrates their centrality to Hansi Flick’s attacking system.
Against Racing Club, the pair contributed to six of Barcelona’s seven goals. In fixtures against Feyenoord, Levante, and Sevilla, they have seamlessly switched roles, with each player creating and finishing chances within the same sequence. Against Levante, Raphinha set up Yamal before Yamal scored. Against Feyenoord, Yamal provided the assist for Raphinha. In the closing stages against Sevilla, Yamal assisted Raphinha twice in succession.
